Join our annual Buddha’s birthday celebration!

❗️Pre-registration is required for this event so we can organize accordingly. Please register by Wed, May 22nd.

This year as part of our celebration, we are hosting a special concert with Tibetan folk music master Loten Namling in the evening along with the launching of aspirational floating lanterns. Loten sings songs about Padmasambhava, Milarepa, and songs from the 6th Dalai Lama.

At Bodhivastu, we take full advantage of this special day to provide unique opportunities for hands-on participation for all, including children. Each year, in the morning, all Sangha member offers a ritual cleansing bath to the newly born baby Buddha as part of the Buddha Shakyamuni meditation Sadhana. This is a fun family event at a most beautiful time of the year in full bloom at Trinlay Khachöd Ling.

Nobody will be turned away due to financial inability although it is highly suggested to support the event and the visiting artist. Proceeds also support the day’s activities and lamp cleanup the next day.

About Loten Namling, Tibetan Folk Music Master

Lama Rangbar Nyimai Özer and Loten Namling met each other in Switzerland during the visit of His Holiness Dudjom Sangye Pema Shepa Rinpoche and became good friends.

Loten Namling is well known for his beautiful Tibetan folk songs as well as for his cartoons and his stance on the Tibetan question.

Loten was born in India in 1963 and currently lives in Switzerland. A multi-disciplinary artist (music, singing, drawing, and performances), he is fully committed to the preservation of Tibetan musical heritage. He travels the world over with his lute, enthusiastically sharing the traditional songs of Tibet, notably those of the 6th Dalai Lama, Padmasambhava and the Great Yogi Milarepa.

Anchored in the present, he often joins forces with contemporary musicians to bring the voice of Tibet to a wider audience. Such was the case with his collaborations with the Austrian stoner rock project Rock to Hula, or the Dutch punks Heideroosjes. An extension of this, in 2012, was the concert he gave, accompanied by the leader of Young Gods and other guest artists, on the Place des Nations in Geneva, the end point of a walking tour lasting almost two months, during which he pulled a coffin to alert public opinion to the self-immolations that were plunging Tibet into mourning. We can be sure that Loten has great surprises in store for us at Bodhivastu’s Trinlay Khachöd Ling.
