The Cycle of Birth and Death: Bardo Retreat w/ Loppon Yudron Wangmo

Join us for a warm, relaxed, and deeply supportive four-day retreat exploring Tibetan Buddhist teachings on life, the dying process, and the periods immediately following death.

Rooted in the renowned text, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, this retreat demystifies the process that drives rebirth. During our time together, Loppon Yudron will bridge Eastern and Western perspectives, exploring:

• The stages of the dying process and the bardo (the intermediate state).

• Comparisons with Western spiritualist beliefs about "life after death."

• Accounts of young children recalling past lives and cross-cultural views on reincarnation.

Most importantly, she will share how practitioners reach the ultimate goal: the transition from cycles of random rebirths driven by karma to becoming great, awakened heros—ones who can consciously choose where and when to be reborn in order to be of the most benefit to all living beings.

The retreat schedule includes short, enjoyable meditation sessions and open group discussions in a welcoming space where you can show up authentically as you are. Optional group practices in the evening will include Chod and Sur offerings, methods which can dynamically benefit those wandering in the bardo.

This retreat will be offered in person, at the Big Indian Meditation Retreat and Healing Sanctuary, Thinley Kachöd Ling, in the pristine wilderness of the Catskill Mountains. One can choose to stay on site, or register as a commuter. If attending in person is not possible, we are also offering Zoom access for virtual attendance.
